I fully expect to take my own life some day. My mother died of Alzheimers and it was horrible. I can't see spending old age incapacitated and depending on a nurse to change my diapers. When life stops being fun and interesting, I want out. But that's a long way off, I think. How to do it is a problem. I have many friends who are lifeguards, paramedics, and firemen. They are the ones who have to pick up your body. I knew a man who blew his brains out in his living room. I wouldn't want to impose that on anyone. Even with professionals, the trauma is not good. Far better to find a hospice with people trained and ready to deal with the dying, but suicide is illegal so you can't just walk in and say help me. Suicide may be illegal now but it will soon be an integral part of your National Health Service, in special clinics attached to Soylent Green factories.

Hopefully I'll get past it this year. My partner has truly lost his mind.
